Ford and its joint venture, Changan Ford (CAF), launched production of the popular Focus at CAF’s Harbin assembly plant.
The move to expand China’s manufacturing will help CAF meet growing demand from customers across the country, and capitalize on economic opportunities in northeast China.
CAF purchased the Hafei manufacturing base at the end of 2015, and post- acquisition, invested in major upgrade to the plant.
As one of the most popular small vehicles in China, Ford Focus sales reached nearly 220,000 vehicles in 2016, up 8 percent compared to 2015. The Focus, which launched in July 2015, features a sleek design, advanced driver assist technologies and excellent fuel economy, while keeping the fun-to-drive Ford DNA that has helped to make the Focus popular around the world.
