Nurburgring has been a proving ground for not only race enthusiasts, but also the automakers around the world to demonstrate how fast and reliable their vehicles are. The Green Hell is the most challenging track in the world, and not every car is capable to record the fastest lap time around it. It is a benchmark especially for cars that can sustain the pressure and challenge. So, which cars have claimed the fastest lap times at Nurburgring? Inchcape Volkswagen has created Nurburgring lap records factsheet, which shows the top 20 fastest lap times set on the Nurburgring track to date. There is something very interesting as you see the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport S taking the 20th spot on the list completing the full lap around iconic German track in 7:49:21. Let’s talk about the top 7 performers today.
1. Radical SR8LM
The 700 hp open-wheeler from the UK carmaker Radical took the world by storm in 2009 when it recorded the fastest Nurburgring lap time of 6:48. Ofcourse, this is not the car to be used for daily commuting, but that’s something you should be behind while competing on the taxing racetracks.
2. Radical SR8
You might not know but Radical registered the fastest lap record in 2005 when the SR8 circled around Nurburgring in 6:55s. It did that using a modest 2.6L V8 engine pumping out 383 hp and 271 Nm of torque. Now that’s unbelievable for a motorist driving the LaFerrari.
3. Porsche 918 Spyder (Weissach Package)
The Porsche 918 Spyder stands at the third position on our list of fastest cars at Nurburgring thanks to its 4.8L V6 that pumps out a mighty 875 hp and 1,280 Nm of torque. The sports car took 6:57s to complete the Nurburgring circuit. The 918 Spyder is one of the fastest acceleration cars in the world that could take you to 62mph in just 2.8 seconds.

4. Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV
The Aventador has been traditionally known for its huge roar, and this is the reason it appeared in many TV and movie scenes. But things are taking a turn now as the automaker is focusing more on performance. The new Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV is a perfect example of speed and agility. With the help of 740 hp 6.5-liter V12 engine, the Italian made hypercar completed the lap in just 6:59:73 and took fourth place on the list.
5. Nissan GT-R Nismo (R35)
The Nissan GT-R Nismo is one of the cheapest and usable cars on the list. It took the challenge just for the bragging rights, otherwise it is capable of more than what it did there, recording the 7:08:68 lap time. It is the fastest accelerating car on our list with 0 to 62 mph time of just 2.5 seconds. Nissan fitted different track options to get rid of weight and boost the aerodynamics for this record attempt.
6. Gumpert Apollo Sport
The Apollo Sport is not a car you hear about so often and it also does not look too athletic, but that didn’t stop it to have a go for fastest Nurburgring lap time. It is capable of generating 691 hp and 915.2 Nm of torque through its eight-cylinder, bi-turbo mid-engine. This mighty power has enabled it to cover the track in 7:11:57 in 2009.
7. Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR
The Viper SRT-10 ACR attacked the Nurburgring in 2011 and became the 7th fastest car to complete the circuit with 7:12:13 lap time. All it was possible through a 600 hp 8.0L V10 engine that could take it all the way to 176 mph.
