The Changan Ford Transmission Plant (CAFTP) recently celebrated the completion of the 1 millionth transmission.
CAFTP in Chongqing is Ford’s first such plant in Asia, and is the second largest production base outside Michigan in North America. The plant has achieved record breaking production speeds, while still maintaining world class quality standards. In the past, the plant has earned several distinctions, including Best Aluminum Machining Efficiency, CPU Best in Ford, R/1000 Best in Ford and Ford Global Five Star Plant.
CAF facilities export products to the Ford VO plant in Michigan and the Saarlouis plant in Germany. Next year, the company will supply transmissions to the Harbin plant, JMC and the Camacari plant in Brazil - with annual output set to break 800,000 units.
