Lincoln retail sales up 2 percent in tough luxury market

On the success of its newest products, Lincoln sales rose 2 percent in July in the United States.

"It’s a solid result for Lincoln against the backdrop of a luxury market that was down approximately 10 percent last month," said U.S. Sales Analyst Erich Merkle.

The new 2017 MKZ, which just started arriving in dealerships, performed well with sales up 12 percent in July.  And the all-new MKX had a good month with sales up 5 percent. The MKX continues to show strong retail sales performance, with a 30 percent gain for the month.

"Lincoln demonstrates what happens when you have a consistent introduction of new products," said Merkle. "We’re one of the few luxury marks to see an increase in sales this year, and our newest products are helping us run against the grain. We started with the all-new MKC, then the all-new MKX and now the new MKZ. Later this year, we’ll see the benefit from the all-new reintroduced Lincoln Continental."
