GM will invest $127.4 million in its southern Indiana casting plant to support production of new aluminum engine blocks and components, creating approximately 127 future jobs.
The plant currently has approximately 700 employees on three shifts and produces transmission casings, converter housings, heads, and small gas engine blocks used in Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles.
"This investment in the future recognizes the excellent workforce at Bedford Casting Operations," said Bedford Casting Operations Plant Manager Lamar Rucker. "It also demonstrates GM’s collaboration with our UAW and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers partners, which reflects how we continue to bring new powertrain solutions to our customers."
Including this investment, GM has invested more than $426 million in the Bedford facility since 2010.
