Smart has just unveiled the new Fortwo Cabrio, ahead of its public debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
Based on the Fortwo Coupe, the model features a familiar design but adopts a smaller B-pillar and a "more progressive" tridion safety cell. However, the biggest change is the addition of a fabric soft top which can be opened fully automatically in 12 seconds - even when driving at top speed. With the 3-button key it can also be opened from outside the car by remote control.
Prospective customers can choose between three different colors for the "tritop" fabric soft top, including blue denim (jeans look), red or black. The rear windscreen is heated and is made of glass.
At launch, the Fortwo Cabrio will be offered with two different 3-cylinder engines which develop 71 hp and 91 Nm of torque as well as 90 hp and 135 Nm of torque. They can be mated to either a 5-speed manual or an automatic twinamic dual clutch transmission.
