Mercedes-Benz has recently launched a new Metris van in the United States.

Essentially a renamed version of the Vito, the Metris will go on sale in September and will be available in a variety of panel van (cargo) and Tourer (passenger) versions at the more than 200 dealerships. It will be the second Mercedes-Benz van on the U.S. market after the Sprinter.

By adopting the new Vito’s high standards, the Metris also sets a new safety benchmark for the U.S. market. As the only van in its class, even the basic version of the Metris panel van features airbags and a seatbelt warning system for both the driver and front passenger as standard equipment. The Metris Tourer, on the other hand, will offer up to eight airbags. Both models will also feature Attention Assist, Crosswind Assist and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Under the hood, the Metris is powered by a turbocharged 1.9-liter four-cylinder petrol engine which produces 211 hp and 350 Nm of torque.
