Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed the GLE Coupe, ahead of its debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.
Designed to compete with the BMW X6, the GLE Coupe is billed as a striking combination of a coupe and a crossover. It features a prominent front fascia with a single bar grille and LED headlights. There's also a dynamic roofline and a distinctive rear end that echoes the S-Class Coupe. Other notable styling highlights include chrome trim, plastic body cladding, a dual exhaust system and 20-inch alloy wheels (21- and 22-inch wheels are optional).
The GLE 450 AMG adopts an aggressive AMG body kit and 21-inch lightweight alloy wheels. It also has an AIRMATIC air suspension, an adaptive damping system and an automatic lowering function which reduces the ride height at higher speeds.
Inside, the cabin has sport seats, a sport steering wheel and a new infotainment display. There's also silver shadow accents and aluminum or wood trim. Meanwhile, the GLE 450 AMG is distinguished by a nappa leather sports steering wheel, stainless steel pedals and carbon fiber trim with piano black accents.
At launch, the GLE Coupe will be offered with three engine options. The GLE 350 d 4MATIC has a 258 hp and 620 Nm engine. The GLE 400 4MATIC uses a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine which produces 333 hp and 480 Nm of torque. Last but not least, the GLE 450 AMG is powered by a more powerful twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that develops 367 hp and 520 Nm of torque.
