Lamborghini has officially unveiled the Asterion LPI 910-4 concept at the 2014 Paris Motor Show today.

According to the Italian carmaker, the Asterion concept is powered by a 5.2-liter V10 engine which produces 610 hp, working together with three electric motors packing an extra 300 hp. This hybrid system has a total output of 910 hp.

Mated to a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox, the supercar can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3 seconds and hit a top speed of 320 km/h. Running solely on electric power, it can hit 125 km/h and can travel for up to 50 km. In terms of efficiency, the Asterion has a combined fuel economy of only 4.2-liter / 100 km (56 mpg US or 67.2 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of just 98 g/km.

As far as the name is concerned, Asterion is another title for the Greek mythology's Minotaur, while LP stands for 'longitudinale posteriore', the position of the conventional V12 engine, I for 'ibrido' or hybrid in English, 910 for the concept's output and 4 for the four-wheel drive system.

For the moment there are no official plans to put the Asterion concept into production, but that could be because Lamborghini wants to get some feedback from the public before it makes a decision.
