Ferrari has announced the first production 458 Speciale A went for $900,000 at an auction organized last weekend in Beverly Hills during Ferrari's 60th anniversary in United States celebrations.
The car was sold by David Gooding and all proceeds will go to the American branch of "Daybreak" charity that conducts research to find cures for rare genetic diseases.
Limited to just
499 units, the 458 Speciale A is the most powerful spider in
Prancing Horse history, effortlessly marrying extreme performance with
the sublime pleasure of drop-top driving. Its aluminium retractable hard
top, which takes a mere 14 seconds to deploy or retract, helps reduce
the weight difference with the Speciale to just 50 kg.
Motivation
is provided by a naturally-aspirated 4.5-liter V8 engine which produces
605 hp at 9,000 rpm and 540 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. This allows the
1,340 kg supercar to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3 seconds, 0-200 km/h
in 9.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 320 km/h.
