Ford Vietnam has announced its best-ever performance for the month of August with total retail sales rising 99 percent year-over-year to 1,287 units. The surging August sales helped Ford capture a monthly market share in Vietnam of 10.2 percent, up 2.0 percentage points from the same month a year ago.
The record August was driven by strong customer demand across the entire Ford vehicle lineup, including an all-time record month for the Transit, success for the recently launched all-new EcoSport, and continuing demand for the Ranger, Fiesta and Everest nameplates.
"The addition of the all-new EcoSport to our Vietnam showroom has given customers even more ways to connect with the Ford brand," said Jesus Metelo Arias, managing director, Ford Vietnam. "The widening appeal of the brand with each new global Ford vehicle we launch is really helping drive our ongoing momentum this year."
Demand for the all-new EcoSport urban SUV continued in its second month of availability in Vietnam with August retail sales of 264 units. The EcoSport is helping to define a whole new vehicle segment in the market – the compact SUV.
"The all-new EcoSport is proving popular with Vietnamese consumers – with its sporty design, smart technologies, and a price point that set it apart from anything else in the market," explained Arias.
The popularity of the Ford Transit continued in August, recording its all-time best monthly performance with retail sales soaring 163 percent year-over-year to 352 units. The Transit continued to lead Vietnam’s commercial van segment in August, and year-to-date sales have now increased 126 percent to 2,400 units.
The Ranger also remained Vietnam’s best-seller in its segment as sales of Ford’s class-defining pickup truck surged 130 percent year-over-year to 393 units. Year-to-date sales have jumped 155 percent to 2,455 units.
"The versatility, durability, car-like comfort and impressive fuel efficiency of the Ranger continues to appeal to a wide range of Vietnamese consumers and is helping drive strong sales across the full Ranger lineup," said Arias.
August sales of the trendy Ford Fiesta rose 25 percent to 84 units, driven by continuing demand for the Fiesta’s 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine, which recently named International Engine of the Year for an unprecedented third consecutive year.
Packaged with a fantastic suite of smart technologies and an unmatched safety package, the Fiesta’s popularity has helped drive its year-to-date sales up 49 percent to 858 units.
The venerable Everest family SUV delivered 130 units in August, bringing year-to-date sales up 34 percent to 1,062 units.
Driven by the company’s ongoing product-led transformation, Ford Vietnam’s year-to-date sales have jumped 65 percent to 7,858 units.
"We’re confident that our momentum will continue through the rest of the year as we continue to serve so many new-to-Ford customers across the country, and go further every day to deliver an unmatched customer and ownership experience in Vietnam," said Arias.
