Ford Vietnam has recently announced a record sales performance for the first half of the year boosted by a best-ever June and outstanding second quarter performance.
Led by continued strong demand for the Fiesta, Transit, Everest and Ranger, June retail sales jumped 67 percent year-over-year to 972 units, capping off the best quarterly performance since the fourth quarter of 2009 with overall retail sales that jumped 51 percent year-over-year. Overall retail sales for the first half of the year also reached a record high with sales increase to 5,264 units, rising 54 percent from the same period last year.
“We continued to build on our momentum since the start of the year, allowing us to make further progress on our One Ford plan in Vietnam,” said Jesus Metelo Arias, managing director, Ford Vietnam. “With our expanding line-up of global Ford vehicles in our showrooms, we are reaching out to more customers, which in turn is helping to widen our brand appeal in the market.”
The segment-leading Ford Ranger and Transit continue their popularity among Vietnamese consumers, with both nameplates seeing best-ever quarterly performances.
The all-new Ranger delivered the second quarter sales that soar 140 percent over the same period last year to 954 units. June sales for the all-new Ranger jumped 79 percent year-over-year to 295 units, firmly secured its position as the best-selling pick up in Vietnam
Quarterly sales of the Ford Transit jumped 131 percent to 919 units following an impressive growth of 134 percent to 306 units in June period.
“The continued success of our global Ford vehicles this quarter is a testament to consumer demand being met and exceeded by Ford’s dynamic line-up in Vietnam,” said Arias.
The popular new Fiesta saw its best sales month since December 2011, fueled by strong demand for the Fiesta 1.0L EcoBoost – the revolutionary engine technology which was awarded International Engine of the Year for the third consecutive year in June. Fiesta sales rose to 377 units in the second quarter, a 53 percent increase over the same period last year.
The popular Ford Everest family SUV recorded 149 units sold in June, a 414 percent increase year-over-year, leading to a total of 403 units sold this quarter, a 58 percent increase over the same period last year.
Ford continues its successful product-led transformation in Vietnam with the official start of assembly for the all-new EcoSport urban SUV at the company’s Hai Duong assembly plant on June 27, with customer deliveries to begin in July.
In first half of 2014, Ford had expanded its dealers and outlets network in Can Tho, Gia Lai and My Dinh. It also plans to open an all-new dealer in Binh Duong in the second half of the year, bringing its Vietnam network to a total of 26 dealers and outlets nationwide.
“We look forward to further serving the customers of Vietnam through our expanding network and introducing more of Ford’s segment-leading vehicles to our eager and loyal consumers,” said Arias.
