In a recent interview, Audi technology communications manager Oliver Strohbach has confirmed the Q7 e-tron would be introduced later this year or early next year.
Speaking to CarAdvice, Strohbach said the model will ride on the modular MLB Evo platform which will spawn the crucial next-generation Audi A4 among others. "The first model of the new MLB will not be an A6 and not an A8, it will be a Q7. The Q7 will be the first model with TDI e-tron drivetrain," he told. "We will then bring A4, and A7, and A8, and all the family."
Motivation will be provided by a 3.0-liter TDI V6 engine and an electric motor, offering a combined maximum output of 373 hp and 700 Nm of torque. In terms of efficiency, the crossover is expected to consume less than 4.0L/100km (58.8 mpg US or 70.6 mpg UK) and have an electric only range in excess of 50 km.
