Ford has just started production of the all-new EcoSport at the company's Hai Duong assembly plant in Vietnam.
With this, the Hai Duong plant becomes the fifth plant globally to build the all-new EcoSport, joining facilities in Chennai (India), Chongqing (China), Camcari (Brazil) and Rayong (Thailand), reinforcing the strategic role of Vietnam in the region.
"The all-new EcoSport is the next proof point of our ongoing product-led transformation and aggressive growth plan for Vietnam," said Jesus Metelo Arias, managing director, Ford Vietnam. "Designed to break through the boundaries of today’s compact car and SUV segment, the all-new EcoSport is the first urban SUV in the market, setting a completely new standard with a combination of quality design, an array of smart technologies, and great value for money."
Based on Ford’s global B-segment platform, the EcoSport is an aspirational alternative to the compact car, spacious enough for five adults and their gear. The EcoSport’s blend of versatility and smart connectivity will appeal to lifestyle customers who are independent and love exploring the world around them.
The EcoSport’s high driving position, rugged capability, superior fuel economy and convenient features all make it just the right vehicle for both city streets and mountain roads.
Motivation is provided by a 1.5-liter Ti-VCT four-cylinder engine that produces 110 hp at 6,300 rpm and 142 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. It is mated to either the fuel-efficient six-speed Ford PowerShift automatic transmission or five-speed manual transmission which is well-suited to urban driving conditions.
