BMW has officially unveiled the 2015 X6, which is set to go on sale in December.
According to the German carmaker, the redesigned X6 features improved aerodynamics and additional standard equipment which goes well beyond that of its predecessor, including bi-xenon headlights, automatic tailgate operation and 19-inch alloy wheels. Customers can order with Oxide Silver, Aluminum Hexagon, Brushed Aluminum, American Oak, Fineline Stripe, Fineline Pure or Poplar Grain.
Meanwhile, the M Sport variant is distinguished by an aerodynamic body kit, a matte aluminum grille and 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels. It also has an upgraded interior, a self-leveling rear air suspension and an Adaptive M suspension.
Inside, the cabin comes nicely equipped with Dakota leather seats, a sport steering wheel, two-zone climate control and an iDrive infotainment system with up to a 10.25-inch display. The new X6 gains 10-liter of extra load space at 580-liter total with all seats in place and an extra 75-liter for a total of 1,525-liter when the rear backrest is folded (split 40:20:40).
At launch, the 2015 X6 will be offered with three different engines. The xDrive 50i use a 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 engine which develops 450 hp and 650 Nm of torque. This allows the car to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h.
The xDrive30d is powered by a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder diesel engine with 258 hp and 560 Nm of torque. It enables the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 230 km/h.
Lastly, the M50d has a tri-turbocharged 3.0-liter 6-cylinder diesel engine that produces 381 hp and 740 Nm of torque. Thanks to the extra oomph, the crossover can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h.
In spring 2015, the 306 hp X6 xDrive35i and the 313 hp X6 xDrive40d will be added to the model range.
