German carmaker Mercedes-Benz has recently announced plans to auction off an S63 AMG Coupe at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival on May 22.
The car will await the guests attending the Gala at the end of the red carpet and will be presented by Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team driver Lewis Hamilton. He will also advise the winning bidder on the individual configuration and appointments of his sporty performance car. For this purpose, the two will come together in the Formula 1 Paddock Club during a race weekend. The handover of the car will take place at AMG's headquarters in Affalterbach, Germany.
All proceeds from the auction will benefit the amfAR Foundation, which has devoted itself to the worldwide battle against AIDS since 1985.
As a small reminder, the S63 AMG Coupe is powered by a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine which produces 577 hp and 900 Nm of torque. This allows the sports car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in as little as 3.9 seconds and hit an electronically limited top speed of up to 299 km/h.
