A new report from Auto Motor und Sport is indicating that German carmaker BMW is gearing up to launch an i9 in 2016.
Little else is known about the model but it will reportedly be a four-door sports car which is based on the i8.
The car would presumably feature carbon fiber construction and the i8's plug-in hybrid powertrain, including a 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo 3-cylinder engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. This system could create a combined maximum output of 362 hp and 570 Nm of torque.
