Mastretta has recently announced the updated version of the MXT sports car will be revealed later this year, ahead of its European debut set for 2015.
According to the Mexican carmaker, the revised MXT will be powered by a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine taken from the Ford Focus ST. It is expected to be substantially lighter than the current version, weighing less than 1,000 kg.
"Our philosophy is that weight and chassis architecture defines performance," said Steve Hindle, who is overseeing Mastretta’s European launch. "The power-to-weight ratio and the raw response from the chassis are what will make this car stand out."
As a small reminder, the current MXT is exclusively available in South America, with a limited production run at about 50 cars per year.
