Chevrolet has announced the first 2015 Corvette Z06 will be auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Palm Beach, Florida on April 12.

All proceeds will go to the renovation of the Karmanos Cancer Institute’s infusion center, providing a more comfortable and soothing setting for patients to receive chemotherapy treatments.

In a statement, GM President Dan Ammann said "Chevrolet’s donation of the first 2015 Corvette Z06 produced is yet another way that we are showing our continued support of the Karmanos Cancer Institute. The funds raised from the auction will help further the exceptional patient care that Karmanos is known for in our community and across the country."

Set to go on sale early next year, the Corvette Z06 is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8 engine which develops "at least" 625 hp and 861 Nm of torque. It will be mated to either a standard 7-speed manual gearbox with Active Rev Match or a newly developed 8-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission.
