2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class to be sportier

2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

New details of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class have been recently published on German magazine Autobild.

Accordingly, the redesigned E-Class will be sportier and have more aerodynamic styling. It will likely ride on the company's new rear-drive architecture and feature a longer wheelbase than the current E-Class.

Customers can order in five different body styles, including a sedan, a long-wheelbase sedan, a wagon, a coupe and a convertible.

Engine options remain a mystery but could include a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline six with 367 hp and 435 hp or a new 2.9-liter diesel engine with 313 hp and 400 hp. We can also expect hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants. The latter will come with two-liter petrol and diesel engines and a 122 hp electric motor.
