Volkswagen has recently launched the e-Golf in Germany with a starting price of €34,900.
Described as "the most successful European car of all time," the electric version of the Golf is available exclusively with four doors and uses a 115 hp motor providing an instant torque of 270 Nm. This allows the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 10.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 130 km/h.
Depending on the nature of the route, driving style and load, the range is between 130 km and 190 km. It is offered with an eight-year / 160,000 km guarantee for the 24.2 kWh battery and according to the German carmaker, the e-Golf is also very inexpensive to run, as power costs are just €3.28 per 100 km.
It comes with a very good range of standard features, including a heated windscreen, Discover Pro radio/navigation system, automatic climate control, parking heater and ventilation, leather-wrapped steering wheel, aero-optimized 'Astana' alloy wheels, full LED headlights, unique C-shaped LED daytime running lights and low-rolling resistance tires.
