Opel has recently announced plans to present a more efficient Astra 1.6 CDTI at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show on March 6.

Available in three versions (hatchback, notchback and Sports Tourer), the new Astra is powered by a 1.6-liter CDTI engine which produces 110 hp and 300 Nm of torque. It is mated to an improved six-speed manual gearbox that allows the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 12.0 seconds and hit a top speed of 186 km/h. In terms of efficiency, the model achieves fuel consumption in the NEDC combined cycle to 3.7-liter per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 97 g/km.

Michael Ableson, Vice President of GM Europe Engineering, said: "The new 1.6 ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo gasoline and 1.6 CDTI engines comprise the core of our engine offensive. They prove that Opel cars not only impress with design, but also offer top quality with ultra-modern technologies for an all-round, first-class driving experience."
