Bugatti has officially confirmed plans to introduce their fourth Legend Edition at 2014 Geneva Motor Show next week.
The French marque declined to go into details, but the model could be named after Elisabeth Junek who was a prominent female racing driver in the early 1920s. She came close to winning the 1928 Targa Florio but a defective brake caused her to lose the lead and come in fifth.
The Elisabeth Junek Edition will be based on the Grand Sport Vitesse which is powered by an 8.0-liter W16 engine with 1,200 hp and 1,500 Nm of torque. It will be mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that allows the supercar to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.6 seconds and hit a top speed of 408.84 km/h with its roof down.
In a statement, Bugatti President Dr Wolfgang Schreiber said "The Legends edition is a great success for Bugatti. The response from our customers is amazing. These are automotive works of art, which each tell a part of Bugatti’s history."
"The Legends edition is part of Bugatti’s success story," continued Schreiber. "After a very successful year in 2013, more than 90 percent of the 450 planned Veyrons have been sold. We are confident that we will be just as successful this year. Our existing and potential customers know that the opportunity to purchase one of these exceptional super sports cars is running out."
