According to the German carmaker, the 740Ld xDrive is powered by a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder diesel engine which produces 255 hp and 559 Nm of torque. It is linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system that allows the car to accelerate from 0-96 km/h in 6.1 seconds.
EPA fuel economy estimates are not yet available, but BMW says "other models equipped with this engine have seen a 25 - 30 percent improvement in fuel efficiency over their direct gasoline-powered counterparts."
The BMW 740Ld xDrive will arrive in showrooms this spring and pricing starts at $83,425 (including a $925 destination and handling).
