Acura has pulled the wraps off the 2015 TLX GT race car at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Set to compete in the GT category of the Pirelli World Challenge Championship, the new TLX GT will be campaigned by long time Acura Motorsports partner RealTime Racing and face with an impressive list of opponents including the Audi R8 LMS, Cadillac CTS-V, Chevrolet Corvette, Dodge Viper, Lamborghini Gallardo, Mercedes SLS, Nissan GT-R, Porsche 911 and Ferrari 458.
The race car was developed by Honda Performance Development (HPD) and fitted with all-wheel drive, HPD chassis and aerodynamic performance parts approved for Pirelli World Challenge. It has a direct-injected, twin-turbo version of the V6 engine powering the TLX luxury sport sedan that the company also just revealed in Detroit.
"The 2015 Acura TLX is a true luxury sport sedan, so it is fitting that the car be raced against several of its natural luxury competitors in the Pirelli World Challenge," said Art St. Cyr, Honda Performance Development President. "Acura and Peter Cunningham's RealTime Racing organization have a long history of success together, and we look forward to adding to that tradition with the Acura TLX GT race car in 2014."
