In a recent interview, Porsche's manager of transmission and drivetrain development has revealed the Macan will be offered with a four-cylinder petrol engine.
Speaking to Auto Express, Dr Thomas Casper said: "I can’t tell you the exact month, but sometime in 2014, perhaps at the end." He also said the model will still be a "proper Porsche" and having a sporty exhaust note is a "top priority."
It’s very likely that the Macan will use a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine which produces approximately 220 hp. The new engine could eventually be available in the Boxster and Cayman.
