Mercedes-Benz is recalling 290 units of the 2014 S550 in the United States due to a problem with the front seat belt anchor. The affected vehicles were manufactured from April 11, 2013 through October 14, 2013.
According to the German carmaker, the front seat belt anchor might not be installed correctly at the factory allowing it to come loose in a crash. If the seat belt becomes loose during a crash, the occupant may not be properly secured, increasing the risk of injury.
The recall is expected to begin this month and dealers will inspect and correct the front seat belt anchor fitting, as necessary, free of charge. Meanwhile, owners can contact Mercedes-Benz at 1-800-367-6372.
