Shelby American has returned one of its most popular cars to the lineup by unveiling the Shelby GT at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Based on the 2014 Ford Mustang GT, the Shelby GT has been equipped with a different fascia, a billet grille, a fiberglass hood and Le Mans stripes. There's also a short shifter, a Ford Racing suspension and 20-inch alloy wheels in performance tires.
Power comes from a 5.0-liter V8 engine that features a new air intake and a Shelby branded exhaust system. It enables the engine to develop 430 hp - a modest increase of 10 hp.
Meanwhile, the optional GT/SC adds a supercharger which allows the engine to produce 525 hp or 624 hp, making it the most potent version of the car ever made. The latter version can sprint from 0-96 km/h in approximately 3.7 seconds and run the quarter mile in the mid 11 second range.
The price of the Shelby GT package is $14,995 while the GT/SC package starts at $27,995, both excluding the cost of the base Mustang GT. Customers can build their Shelby GT online at www.shelbyamerican.com.
