Citing an inside source, Auto Express is reporting that Toyota has approved production of a GT 86 sedan.

Accordingly, the model will use the same platform as the GT 86, but feature a wheelbase that has been stretched by 100 mm. It could also have a "keen-look" grille design which appears to replicate the shape of a samurai sword.

Under the hood, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine will carryover and develop 200 hp and 205 Nm of torque. There could also be a Hybrid R version that produces between 250-270 hp and achieves 10-15 percent better fuel economy than the standard car.

The Toyota GT 86 saloon is expected to be launched from late 2015, with prices starting from £28,000.
