Nissan to continue US sales of current-generation Rogue

2013 Nissan Rogue

Citing strong demand, Nissan has announced the current-generation Rogue will continue in its lineup for the immediate future.

Renamed the Rogue Select, the model is slated to go on sale in the United States in January and has a base price of less than $20,000. It will likely use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine which produces 170 hp and 237 Nm of torque.

"As the compact SUV segment is becoming very specialized, there is an opening for a low-cost, high-content offering, which is a gap that Rogue Select will fill," said Fred Diaz, divisional vice president of Sales and Marketing for Nissan North America. "Rogue Select will allow Nissan to continue its strong performance in the segment, which will only get stronger once the all-new, U.S.-built 2014 Rogue goes on sale."

The Rogue Select will be assembled in Kyushu, Japan, while the all-new Rogue, which is expected to hit the market this November, will be built in Smyrna, Tennessee.
