German carmaker BMW has recently announced plans to introduce the 4-Series Hybrid at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show next month.
The model will likely be based on the 4-Series Coupe and is powered by the same powertrain as the ActiveHybrid 3, including a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine and an electric motor which will develop a combined maximum output of 340 hp.
Details are limited but the ActiveHybrid 3 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and returns 5.9-liter / 100km (47.9 mpg UK or 39.8 mpg US) with CO2 emissions of 139 g/km. It can travel on electricity alone for up to 4 km at speeds up to 75 km/h.
