According to a new report from German magazine AutoBild, Audi will launch an entry-level Q1 crossover in 2016.
Set to sit below the Q3, the model will reportedly measure 3,800 mm long and have "generous ground clearance." Despite it being possible on the platform currently underpinning the Volkswagen Polo, but all-wheel drive will not be available.
Engine options will likely include a 1.4-liter TFSI, a 1.4 TDI with 90 hp and a range-topping 2.0-liter with 231 hp. A plug-in hybrid will come later with a 110 hp 1.2-liter petrol engine and a 109 hp electric motor. The Q1 is expected to return over 100 mpg in a mixed European cycle and travel up to 31 miles on electricity alone.
If the rumor proves true, the Audi Q1 could cost less than €20,000 ($27,050 or £16,695).
