Cadillac has announced the 2014 ELR will have a starting price of $75,995, including a $995 destination charge, when it goes on sale in January. That's $41,000 more than the 2014 Chevrolet Volt.
However, customers may be eligible for a $7,500 Federal tax credit and a variety of state and local incentives. The ELR will come with LED head- and taillights, an User Experience multimedia system, a CUE infotainment system, 20-inch alloy wheels and a variety of safety features including Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert and Safety Alert Seat.
Motivation is provided by a hybrid powertrain which includes a T-shaped 16.5 kWh lithium-ion battery, a 1.4-liter petrol engine and an electric motor. Total powertrain output is 207 hp and 400 Nm of torque, allowing the car to travel approximately 56 km on electric power alone and more than 480 km combined.
