The 2014 Audi A3 Cabriolet has recently gone into production at the brand's plant in Gyor, Hungary.
According to the German carmaker, the new Cabriolet is set to go on sale next spring and rides on the MQB platform. It features a new soft cloth top which can be opened or closed in less than 18 seconds, even while driving up to 50 km/h. In addition, customers can also order a "fully automatic acoustic top" which has a thicker inner foam layer meant to reduce interior noise.
At launch, the A3 Cabriolet will be offered with three petrol engines including a 1.4-liter TFSI with 140 hp, a 1.8-liter TFSI with 180 hp and a 2.0-liter TDI with 150 hp. The model will eventually be offered with two diesel engines including a 1.6-liter TDI with 110 hp and a 2.0-liter TFSI with 300 hp. All engines combine the technologies of direct injection, turbocharging and a start/stop system.
Currently available for order in Germany, the 2014 Audi A3 Cabriolet has a starting price of €31,700.
