Kia has confirmed to dealers that the K9 flagship will be offered in the United States early next year.
The rear-wheel drive sedan is set to be called the K900 and promises to offer "a BMW 7-Series value for a BMW 5-Series price." Pricing was not discussed, but the K900 is expected to carry a base price of between $50,000 and $70,000.
Under the hood, the K900 will be offered with V6 and V8 engines, including a 3.8-liter MPI V6 with 290 hp and a 5.0-liter Tau V8 with 420 hp. Both versions could be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Kia expects U.S. dealers will sell 5,000 units annually. This seems rather lofty as the K900 will only be available at certain dealerships, which undergo specialized customer service training and buy special showroom display items.
