Jeep has just introduced the Wrangler Polar which will be showcased next week at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Based on the Wrangler Unlimited, this special edition boasts an all-new Hydro Blue exterior color matched to a black interior and will be sold in Europe as a two- or four-door. It also gets 18-inch glossy black alloy wheels, a body-colored hard top and several original Mopar accessories.

The Wrangler Polar takes its cue from the severe climate and extreme conditions that characterise the Antarctic region. The "Polar" badge located on the front fender flares shows off the 78° S and 106° E coordinates that correspond to the location of Vostok in Antarctica - the exact point where the absolute severest temperature in the world was recorded at -89.2° C (-128.56° F).

Motivation is provided by a 2.8-liter CRD turbo diesel engine that develops 200 hp at 3,600 rpm and 460 Nm of torque between 1,600 and 2,600 rpm when mated to the 5-speed automatic gearbox. When linked to the six-speed manual, the engine creates 200 hp and 410 Nm of torque between 2,600 and 3,200 rpm. There's also a 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine which produces 284 hp and 347 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox.

Standard equipment includes automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated controls, heated front seats, height-adjustable driver seat, Electronic Vehicle Information Centre (EVIC) and cruise control. Customers can also order a Polar Pack 1 package encompassing front side airbags, UConnectTM multi-media infotainment and navigation system with 6.5-inch touchscreen, 40GB HDD, USB/AUX port and DVD player.
