Holden has just announced plans to offer a new RS sports version of the popular Barina in Australia.

Set to go arrive at dealerships in November, the Barina RS features an aerodynamic body kit which includes new bumpers, modified side skirts, a larger rear spoiler and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin comes with sport seats and a flat-bottomed steering wheel.

Local engineering development work for the Barina RS includes a unique-for-Australia electric power steering system that was undertaken by Holden’s own engineers.

Full specifications have not been revealed, but the Barina RS is essentially a rebadged Chevrolet Sonic RS so the car will likely use a turbocharged 1.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine which produces 138 hp and 200 Nm of torque.
