Volkswagen has announced plans to present three important world premieres at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
First up, the Golf R uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine which develops 300 hp and 380 Nm of torque. This allows the all-wheel drive hatchback to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds (4.9 seconds with the optional six-speed DSG) and hit an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h.
Next, the e-Golf is slated to feature a 26.5 kWh lithium-ion battery and an electric motor which produces 115 hp and 270 Nm of torque. It could enable the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 11.8 seconds, hit a top speed of 135 km/h and travel up to 175 km.
The third model remains a mystery, but the main themes at Volkswagen's stand are Think Blue, 4MOTION (four-wheel drive) and the WRC (World Rally Championship).
