Next-generation Nissan GT-R coming in 2015

Nissan "GT-R" emblem

During the Nissan 360 global press conference held last week in California, an unnamed Nissan representative told Motor Trend that the next-generation GT-R will probably arrive in three years.

No other details about the car, but the magazine expects the new GT-R will debut late in 2015 as a 2016 model. Previous reports have also indicated it could use a hybrid powertrain, a stop/start system and cylinder deactivation technology.

But before the arrival of the 2016 GT-R, the Japanese carmaker will launch a new GT-R Nismo which should be lighter and more powerful, potentially the last update for the current GT-R. It is expected to be revealed later this year as a 2015 model.
