Mazda Deep Orange 3 concept

Japanese carmaker Mazda has recently unveiled the Deep Orange 3 concept at the Center for Automotive Research Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, Michigan.

Conceived and developed by by students from the Art Center College of Design and Clemson University, the Deep Orange 3 - with body panels created by Frederick Naaman - features a load-bearing structure based on innovative sheet-folding technology patented by Industrial Origami, a 3+3 seating configuration in sports car architecture and an innovative hybrid powertrain that automatically chooses front-, rear- or all-wheel drive.

Derek Jenkins, Mazda North America design director, said "These students have provided fresh and inventive ideas from sketch pad to sheet metal, and the final product truly speaks to that open dialogue and collaboration between the Art Center College of Design and Clemson University."
