According to a recent report from Automotive News, Hyundai is currently developing a rear-wheel drive compact sedan to compete with the BMW 3-Series.
Developed under the RK codename, the model will be slightly larger than the BMW 3-Series and share design cues with the HCD-14 Genesis concept which debuted at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show earlier this year. It could be launched in 2016, though precise timing is unclear.
Details are scarce, but engine options could include a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 274 hp used in the Genesis Coupe or a 3.3-liter V6 with 293 hp used in the Azera.
