The Galpin Auto Sport GTR1 prototype has just made its first public debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
Described as "a vision of what the Ford GT may have looked and performed like today," the GTR1 has a handcrafted aluminum body designed in house and constructed by Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters of Fountain Valley, California. It also features some carbon fiber exterior accents, 20-inch forged aluminum wheels with Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires and six-piston calipers with full carbon rotors.
Inside, the cabin gets a machined aluminum instrument cluster, a McIntosh sound system and equally exquisite hand fabricated leather trimmed seats, dash, door panels and headliner. All available in the buyer's preferred color and stitching.
Power comes from a twin-turbo 5.4-liter V8 engine which produces 1,024 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque. This could allow the supercar to accelerate from 0-96 km/h in approximately 3 seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 362 km/h.
Production will be extremely limited as Galpin anticipates an initial build of just 6 units and a maximum of 24 units created with a price of just over $1 million (€749,850 or £639,345). Orders for the GTR1 are being taken immediately with production scheduled for early 2014.
