Chevrolet has announced the 2014 Malibu will have a starting price of $22,965 (including an $825 destination charge) when it goes on sale in the United States this fall. That's an increase of $160 over the 2013 version.
According to the North American carmaker, the revised Malibu has a restyled front end with a prominent grille and additional chrome trim. It also gets an updated interior with a new center console and improved seats that help increase rear knee room by 31.7 mm.
Under the hood, the entry-level model is powered by a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine which produces 196 hp and 253 Nm of torque. With new intake valve technology and a standard stop-start system, the car can return an EPA-estimated 25 mpg city / 36 mpg highway / 29 mpg combined.
In addition, customers can also order a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine developing 259 hp and 400 Nm of torque.
Last but not least, the 2014 Malibu has a re-tuned chassis, an improved power steering system, a new six-speed automatic transmission and upgraded brakes which promise to provide a "more confident feel."
