Volkswagen has announced the new Golf Variant is now ordered with the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system that promises to virtually eliminate the loss of traction.

According to the German carmaker, this permanent all-wheel drive system is one of the most modern and efficient systems of this kind in the world. The intelligently controlled 4MOTION system works without an accumulator and reacts extremely quickly to all kinds of driving conditions.

The all-wheel drive is offered on models equipped with a 1.6-liter TDI engine that produces 105 hp and 250 Nm of torque. For customers who want even more power, it can also be ordered with the 2.0-liter TDI engine which develops 150 hp and 320 Nm of torque. Depending on which engine is selected, the Golf Variant 4MOTION consumes only 4.5-liter / 100 km or 4.8-liter / 100 km.

In Germany, the Golf Variant 1.6 TDI 4MOTION has a starting price of €24,400, while the Golf Estate 4Motion Comfortline 2.0 TDI costs €29,075.
