Six Porsche 918 Spyders spotted in Monaco

While cruising around Monaco, Marchettino on YouTube has spotted no less than six Porsche 918 Spyders on the road. This prototypes were appeared on camera ahead of a September launch when the final production version will be revealed at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Designed to combine "maximum performance with minimum consumption," the 918 Spyder has a mid-mounted 4.6-liter V8 engine which produces 608 hp and 530 Nm of torque. It is backed up by two electric motors - producing 156 hp and approximately 129 hp - which power each axle. This allows the supercar to have a combined maximum output of 887 hp and more than 800 Nm of torque. According to the German carmaker, the model can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 7.9 seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 340 km/h.

In terms of efficiency, the 918 Spyder averages approximately 3.3-liter / 100 km (85.6 mpg UK or 71.2 mpg US) with CO2 emissions of roughly 79 g/km. It can also travel approximately 30 km on electricity alone.
