BMW has officially announced the i3 will have a starting price of £25,680 when it goes on sale in the UK in October. In Germany, the pure-electric car will be offered starting November from €34,950, while it will cost $41,350 in the United States from Q2 2014.
According to the German carmaker, the i3 has a rear-mounted 50 kg electric motor which produces 170 hp and 250 Nm of torque. This allows the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.2 seconds, hit an electronically-limited top speed of 150 km/h and have a range between 130 km to 160 km.
The battery can be fully charged from a standard household socket in approximately eight hours or in six hours when using the optional BMW i Wallbox. DC Fast Charging is the third and final option available to owners and allows the i3 to get an 80 per cent charge in just 30 minutes to one hour.
The BMW i3 will make its world premiere on July 29 at parallel events in the megacities of London, New York and Beijing.
