Mazda has officially revealed the 2014 Mazda3 Sedan, which will go on sale in the United Kingdom later this year.
Just like the CX-5 and Mazda6, the all-new Mazda3 Sedan gets the full range of lightweight Skyactiv technology, which has been optimised, together with the latest adaptation of the company's Kodo Soul of Motion design language, to best suit the smaller C-segment model's size and agility.
The sedan features a different roof, rear window, rear wings and boot lid in a design which extends the overall length by 120 mm to 4,580 mm - compared to 4,460 mm for the hatchback. The car's boot opening width is increased by 100 mm to 1,102 mm so it can now accommodate three 67 cm suitcases and has a total capacity of 419-liter.
Customers will be offered a choice of three naturally-aspirated high compression petrol engines and one turbocharged diesel. First, the Skyactiv-G 1.5-liter gasoline engine develops 100 hp, mated to a six-speed manual transmission which will allow the car to return 5-liter / 100 km (56.4 mpg UK or 47 mpg US) in the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 118 g/km.
Next, the Skyactiv-G 2.0-liter gasoline engine produces 120 hp and 165 hp. The lesser version returns 5.1-liter / 100 km (55.3 mpg UK or 46 mpg US) and CO2 emissions of 118 g/km with the manual gearbox or 5.6-liter / 100 km (50.4 mpg UK or 42 mpg US) and CO2 emissions of 129 g/km with the automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the more powerful variant returns 5.8-liter / 100 km (48.7 mpg UK or 40.5 mpg US) with CO2 emissions of 135 g/km.
Lastly, the Skyactiv-D diesel engine creates 150 hp and 380 Nm of torque at 1,800 rpm. When equipped with the manual gearbox, the car will deliver 3.9-liter / 100 km (72.4 mpg UK or 60.2 mpg US) and CO2 emissions of 104 g/km.
