2014 BMW i3 to debut on July 29

BMW has recently released the first teaser video of the 2014 i3 that will be unveiled on July 29.

The production i3 will be based on the concept which debuted at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show and is expected to be powered by a rear-mounted electric motor producing 170 hp and 249 Nm of torque. This allows the pure electric car to have range of 130 km to 160 km.

In addition, the German carmaker will also offer a range-extended variant which comes with a 0.65-liter two-cylinder motorcycle engine that acts as a generator. In this version, the total range will increase to 300 km.

The 2014 BMW i3 will likely cost €29,000 in Germany.
