2013 Honda Accord recalled for fuel tank issue

Honda is recalling 1,659 units of the 2013 Accord in the United States to fix a potentially defective fuel tank. The affected vehicles were manufactured January 15, 2013 through April 5, 2013.

"The fuel tank neck may be out of specification causing the fuel pump to not properly seal to the fuel tank. An insufficent seal may led to a fuel leak which increases the risk of a fire," said NHTSA in its summary of the problem.

The recall is expected to begin August 1 and dealers will replace the fuel tank, nut and O-ring gasket free of charge. For more information, owners may contact Honda at 1-310-783-2000 or NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
