A new report from Automotive News is indicating that the recently unveiled BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe could preview an 8-Series Coupe.
The Gran Lusso Coupe may be a one-off concept, but it hints at the German carmaker's possibility of reviving the 8-Series nameplate. Several sources have also confirmed a production model is under consideration.
A BMW insider explained, "We want to send out the message the future is not all about electric cars but also traditional models with real emotional appeal. Whether that includes an 8-series is not yet decided. But the Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe gives an indication of how such a car might look."
As a small reminder, the Gran Lusso Coupe is based on the 7-Series platform and uses a turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 engine which produced 544 hp and 750 Nm of torque.
